Deirdre Coleman Imus From the People's Media Deirdre Coleman Imus, the wife of former shock jock Don Imus stepped up to
the microphone to speak out for her husband.
"We met with the beautiful young women and the coach and head of Rutgers
University and athletic director for hours which was a very the important
thing," she said. "We gave opportunity to listen to what they had to say about
how hurt they were and how horrible this is, those women are courageous and
beautiful."
Deirdre Imus wants all hate mail sent to her husband. "Let the heckling of these
team members stop. Sending it to these girls is not the right thing to do"
The head coach of the Rutgers women's basketball team has said the team has
forgiven Imus for his remarks.
Don's radio show was ended on Thursday after being on the air for 30 years as
the result of his comment last week that the Rutgers women's basketball team
were "nappy headed ho's." The show was pulled that day by CBS President Les
Moonves saying, "There have been too many discussions on how language such as
this effects people especially our young people and particularly young women of
